i3connect is a solution conceived by Intré S.rl. for remote management.

It is based on standard and free hardware and software, sponsoring the use of the internet as a means of transmission, cheap and made safe by the use of algorythms of authentication and criptography. Furthermore it supports connectivity through modem.

COMPONENTS:

:: "i3connect user": software application (standard, not realized by Intré) to be installed on the PC of the technician who will operate remotely

:: "i3connect device": the device connecting to the "i3connect server" is installed in the remote location (machine, point of sales, etc.)

:: "i3connect server": server machine visible on the internet. It is the center of communication managing the exchange of all stations connected

HOW IT WORKS:

The connection center (i3connect server) manages the exchange of information among connected stations, depending on security and protection rules defined according to specific needs. Connection is very simple: the technician activates the "i3connect user" software and gets connected to the "i3connect server". The remote location gets connected too to the "i3connect server". From this point on, the technician sees the remote location exactly as if he was physically connected to the remote network. Then he can operate with all support software packages in a very standard way.

INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION:

Intré has got a long-time experience in automation. That is why i3connect has been designed to be easily used in the industrial field.

Here are the strong points of "i3connect device":

:: it requires a power supply between 9V and 30V

:: it has got an input and an output usable to start a connection and know its state. They are needed when there are no PCs in the remote location. (i.e. only PLC)

:: it does not use mobile parts (fans, disks, etc.), with an increase of its reliability

:: it is "open": it is a small Linux machine, that means it can be used to do many different things, i.e. data gathering.

REMOTE OFFICES:

Intré has been designing and installing nets for a long time for small and medium realities. That is why "i3connect device" is suitable for connecting remote offices. SPECIFICATIONS:

:: i3connect is based on OpenVPN (www.openvpn.net)

:: i3connect does not require specific configurations by the IT office where it is installed. It only takes an internet connection with the same limits and rules foreseen for employees

:: i3connect also works when protection systems are on, such as firewalls and proxy servers

:: "i3connect user": is a standard market application, it's safe and widely used, open-source and freeware

:: "i3connect server": is a Linux server bespoke pre-configured by Intré. It does not require neither particular maintenance nor specific hardware: its configuration is decided according to the connectivity needs of the client.

There are two versions of '"i3connect device":

:: "i3connect router": Intré installs a small Linux distribution on a common router. The contained cost of this solution does not influence the complete functionalities of the system. It requires a 220V power supply.

:: "i3connect PC": Intré provides a small industrial PC with no hard disk nor fans to realize more articulated and complex solutions. This small Linux PC also allows the installation of particular applications, such as data gathering, SMS forwarding, etc.
