A real-time monitoring system for variables taken on motorway sections. Monitoring is performed using a simple web browser. Considered variables are like temperature, wind velocity, field device status, instructions to the drivers, etc. Variables are represented both in text and graphic version.
The system consists in a server accessing to data in real time by interfacing to the supervising system of the company that manages the section. Using java applets, the browser is able to visualize published HTML pages using the HTTP protocol and to request the status of the variables to the server.
Status variations are visualized automatically - no manual refresh is needed - since the server can notify the browser about any change occurring to the shown variables on screen.
