13 November 2024 - 6 minutes reading

Here we are with our article dedicated to the Intré Camp held on October 2, 2024, in the beautiful setting of the refectory and rooms of the Diocesan Museum of Brescia.

The Camp is always a moment of sharing and growth for all of us. In this report, we will take you on a journey through the Guild presentations and the most engaging discussions of the unconference, allowing you to relive the immersive atmosphere and content of this special day.

Enjoy the reading.

Gildonference

The term “gildonference” comes from the combination of the words Guilds and conference: it is a sort of mini-conference dedicated to the Guilds, a special opportunity for all Intré members to share the results and experiences gained in the active Guilds during the last semester. In the following paragraphs, you will find a summary of the presentations of the Guilds from the second semester of 2024.

On the “Guilds” page of our company website, you will find the summary sheets of these recent Guilds and previous ones.

i3Presence

In this second iteration, the Guild continued the development of the Flutter application for desk booking and office attendance tracking, adding a new booking feature via a dynamic SVG map. The pages were also adapted to make them accessible via browser, improving compatibility between web and mobile. The next phase will focus on completing the web adaptation, verifying operational flows, and adding an administration panel for desk management.

Road to Play 14

The Guild was created to improve “Scrum Quest,” an agile-themed board game developed in 2023 by the “i3 Board Game” Guild. Based on player feedback, the team worked on new content, game balancing, and preparation to present it at the “Play 14 Italia” conference held from September 5 to 7, 2024, in Florence. By the end, the Guild achieved all its goals, presenting the new version at the conference and offering two game sessions during the unconference.

Cogito ergo sum

During the philosophical Guild led by instructor Elisa Belotti, participants explored the ideas of great thinkers on science, ethics, freedom, and bioethics, developing critical and argumentative skills through dialectical debates. The course concluded with a debate on democracy as a form of government, which was then presented in a session of the unconference.

Video production – 1st group

The Video Production Guild focused on learning the key stages of video creation: pre-production, production, post-production, and distribution. Participants attended courses on cinematography, storytelling, and editing, using advanced software such as Premiere and After Effects. They took part in a workshop with Carlo Teofilo, experimenting with technical equipment, and an online editing workshop. The journey allowed the team to gain the skills necessary to independently manage video projects, culminating in the presentation of a video during the gildonferenza at this October Intré Camp, showcasing the work done.

Video production – 2nd group

The second group that joined this Guild followed a similar path, exploring all phases of video production: from scriptwriting in pre-production, to technical shooting in production, to editing and effects in post-production using Movavi. The members gained the skills to independently manage video projects. During the gildonferenza at the camp, participants presented a training video on ISO 27001 standards, depicting risk situations in the office. For the unconference of the same event, they held a practical workshop on video creation and editing using the Movavi editing software.

CodeCrafters

The Guild was created to explore the inner workings of well-known software through the challenges on CodeCrafters.io, which involve creating simplified versions of tools like Redis, Git, Docker, and others. The participants, using suitable programming languages, gained a deeper understanding of technologies such as DNS, shell, and Redis, and learned to manage low-level data structures through specific APIs.

CKA or CKAD Certification

This Guild was created to prepare for the CKA and CKAD certifications. The participants studied Kubernetes together, guided by colleagues already certified, and delved into advanced tools like ISTIO (presented by Carlo Ballabio during an unconference session), Helm, and Operator. During the meetings, patterns such as sidecar, adapter, and ambassador were explored, enhancing the members’ skills.
At the end of the course, two Guild members, Carlo and Yordan Asenov, passed the exam and obtained the CKA certification.

Skip the Guild

Intré also offers the option of not joining any Guild, allowing individuals to pursue independent learning paths, known as “Skip the Guild.” Below, you will find the list of participants and the results they achieved through their journey.

  • Emanuele Bassis: explored the potential of AI to achieve a complete 3D segmentation starting from a CT scan. Emanuele expanded his knowledge of image analysis models and medical image formats and developed an initial model for 2D segmentation of CT scan images;
  • Veronica Brosio: studied to obtain the “AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate” certification;
  • Veronica D’Angelo: gained a deeper understanding of how the human mind responds to stimuli from technology or a digital interface by exploring memory function and identifying strategies to facilitate learning and effective use of a digital product. Veronica earned the “The Brain and Technology” certification from “Interaction Design Foundation“;
  • Domenico De Angelis: studied to obtain the “Google Cloud Certified – Cloud Digital Leader” certification;
  • Federico Ghezzo: continued his university studies, preparing for two exams;
  • Fabio Nava: studied to obtain the “AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner – Foundational” certification;
  • Alessandro Rosa: studied to obtain the “GitHub Foundations” certification;

  • a descriptive sheet;
  • a link to a related artifact (a video, an article, a podcast episode, etc.).

Best Summer Holiday Photo 2024

Since this Camp followed the summer months, we brought back the contest for the most beautiful photos taken during the summer. Among the 16 submitted photos, a company-wide survey determined the three most deserving ones, taken by:

  1. Domenico De Angelis
  2. Cristina Azzarito
  3. Andrea Giovane

Congratulations to Domenico, Cristina, and Andrea!

Unconference

Fabio Ghislandi facilitated the marketplace moment, during which the unconference schedule is actually created: each participant, equipped with a post-it, presents their session and places it in one of the designated time slots on the agenda.
After the presentations, a few minutes were dedicated to confirming the current session arrangement or making adjustments, following a single rule: only those requesting a change, together with the owner of the involved post-it, can make a decision about it.

The protagonist of the unconference was artificial intelligence. Below, we present three of the sessions dedicated to AI: the first explored concerns and fears surrounding the technology, the second focused on its impact on the business world, and the third illustrated how AI can become a valuable tool to support creativity and generate innovative ideas.

What impact does artificial intelligence have on humans?

A session moderated by psychologist Elisa Belotti, coach of the Cogito Ergo Sum Guild, among the guests of this October Intré Camp. The session took the form of an open discussion on the role, prospects, and fears surrounding artificial intelligence.
During the discussion, participants explored the impact AI is having—and could have—on the most human aspects of our work, those that touch our sensitivity and creativity. This reflection led us to the question: “What will be the meaning of our role in the world?”

Memoria

Andrea Caglio and Christian De Simone presented to colleagues the results and offerings of Intré’s new business unit dedicated to artificial intelligence, Memoria.
Andrea and Christian showcased the most important case studies so far, illustrating its services, and explained why the iterative and incremental approach learned at Intré is also one of Memoria’s key strengths.

Brainstorming with AI

Diego Chierichetti led a workshop on AI and design thinking, focusing on how to collaborate with artificial intelligence to generate innovative ideas. He shared his insights on the role of AI, particularly ChatGPT, in the creative process, emphasizing how this technology can be used to stimulate creativity. During the workshop, Diego guided participants through the process of crafting prompts, explaining step by step how to formulate effective requests to improve the quality of responses.

Conclusion

After the final track of unconference sessions, we gathered in the refectory to share some feedback on this Intré Camp and conclude the day with a guided tour of the artworks preserved in the museum.

See you at the next Intré Camp!
