Developing with AI: Intré’s first in-house hackathon
How does the way we design and develop software change when Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes part of the process?
To answer this through practical experience, on 12 October 2026 we held Intré’s first internal hackathon dedicated to software development with AI, simultaneously at our Monza and Seriate offices.
An experiment to assess the potential of different techniques in practice, testing them on the same problem under the same conditions.
A practical challenge, three hours to tackle it
Sixteen people took part—12 Intré team members and 4 external guests—tackling a practical challenge: rethink the pedestrian crossing system of a hypothetical municipality, from design through to building a prototype.
The schedule was deliberately tight: three hours in total, with an hour and a half dedicated to development and another hour and a half to discussion between the groups and presenting their solutions to the judges.
Six solutions, six ways of working with AI
Over the course of the evening, six solutions emerged, with radically different approaches and styles. The differences lay in the ideas proposed, as well as in how each group chose to use Artificial Intelligence to achieve a tangible result in a very short time.
The final discussion was perhaps the most valuable moment of the evening: looking at the same problem from six different perspectives allowed everyone to question their own habits and discover new ways to collaborate with AI.
Experimenting together to keep learning
This first experiment gave us plenty of ideas to build on. We believe that the best way to understand the impact of Artificial Intelligence on our work is to experiment with it together.
See you at the next hackathon!
